Raven Gill Campsite is situated in the North Yorkshire Moors and is owned by Cleveland Scout Council. It is situated in a valley in a rural setting with a small stream running through the centre of the site Thirty minutes from Middlesbrough and thirty minutes from Whitby. This site is also within walking distance of Commondale Railway Station which is on the Esk Valley railway line.

The site has camping pitches that are capable of holding various sizes of group from those for patrol camping to sites large enough to hold a Troop Camp. On each site there is a water tap and most have altar fires. Also available are two Camp Fire Circles. There are two toilet blocks on site, both of which have hot and cold water and showers are also available. During the school holidays and weekends a volunteer Warden is in residence and a small shop is available when a Warden is on site. Freezer facilities are available in the Warden's quarters for campers.

Please note that the site is only available to Scouts, Guides and other Youth or Educational Organisations and also that there may be sheep grazing on the site.

There is no vehicle parking allowed on the site other than in designated parkig area's.
Raven Gill Scout Camp or the Scout Association will not accept any liability for loss or
damage caused to any vehicle or its contents whilst parked on the Raven Gill Camp Site.

Dogs are NOT allowed on site.

Follow the A171, south, from Guisborough to Whitby, at the top of the bank, reservoir on the right, turn off to the right for CASTLETON. You then watch for the signpost directing you to the right for COMMONDALE. At the bottom of a very very steep bank you enter the village. For sat Navs the post code is YO21 2HG As you go through the village (only small) the site is signposted on the right.

There are two accommodation centres on site.

The Centenary Centre was opened in 2007 and is capable of sleeping 42 people in five rooms of six, one of eight and one of four. It also has a well equipped kitchen with dining/activities room, a small leaders room and an inside night toilet. Electric power points are available but are on a 50p meter. Main toilet facilities are in the adjacent building and consist of male and female washing facilities, toilets and showers, all with hot water.
The Jubilee Centre is an older building and is capable of sleeping 32. It has two main dormitories one of which sleeps 10 and one which sleeps 14. There are also two rooms of four. There is a large well fitted kitchen with a dining/activities room. Indoor facilities consist of male and female toilets and a shower room.

Other facilities include four Training Cabins which are suitable for use as a kitchen for central cooking, or a small group could use them for a kitchen/diner. They are furnished with a table, benches and a fixed shelf that can be used for cooking stoves. The cabins are not available for sleeping purposes.
